“ONE AMONG MANY”

The theme of Serralves em Festa’s 2015 edition reinforces one of the event’s main distinctive characteristics – the fact that it proposes a genuine collective existence over 2 days, in which the general public and artists share places and remarkable experiences, such as visiting the museum at 2 a.m. in the morning, or dancing in Serralves meadow at dawn. The programme includes proposals that illustrate the interaction between the visual arts and performing arts, including Performance Art, Music, Contemporary Dance, Theatre and Cinema, Architecture and Ecology, which are presented in a close and integrated relationship with the ongoing activities in Serralves Museum and Park.

This year’s edition of Serralves em Festa will focus on the relationship between the event’s audiences and Porto’s different artistic agents – ranging from cultural associations to art schools, thus providing unique encounters and perspectives of further collaborations. There will once again be emphasis on partnerships with Portuguese artistic, cultural and environmental institutions, thus making the Serralves Foundation the largest meeting point for everyone who thinks about and programmes performing arts activities in Portugal.

THE FESTA CONTINUES OUTSIDE SERRALVES!

As in previous years, Serralves em Festa welcomes the participation of the local and national community, and also artists from around the world – establishing partnerships with other cultural, social, educational and artistic entities of Porto and Portugal. The Festa once again continues beyond the doors of Serralves and presents projects in the city of Porto, in partnership with Porto Municipal Council, through PortoLazer.

This extension to Porto’s Baixa zone and the intersection with the council’s strategy for hosting entertainment events in the city’s public spaces, constitutes the high point of the partnership between Serralves and Porto Municipal Council, via PortoLazer, in the framework of Serralves em Festa.

Serralves em Festa aims to forge an increasingly close connection with content provided by the city’s artists, territory and local citizens in general. These aspects are strengthened in the 2015 programme, in which Serralves em Festa once again occupies a prominent place within the agenda of the city’s anchor event – the Festa of São João of Porto – which this year lasts for seven weeks – from May 23 to July 4.
